The 74th Panzer Artillery Regiment was formed on March 23, 1942. The regiment was formed by renaming the Artillery Regiment 74 . Even after the renaming, the regiment remained subordinate to the 2nd Panzer Division . In August 1944 the regiment was destroyed in the Falaise Pocket, Normandy.
